‘Noise Thermometer’
You have probably seen it sketched out before, a ‘noise thermometer!’.
Allow me to give you my version, The Three P’s… my best try at making it memorable
Joking aside, noise levels is a serious topic, especially the understanding of the levels. Down below is a sketch of an A-weighted “Noise Level Thermometer” divided into three main sections.
Pleasant
Pleasant: Being Sound Pressure Levels In the range of 0-60 dBA.
Most common average Sound levels we experience throughout the day.
Peeve
Peeve: Noise Levels above 70 dBA starts getting into the realm of unpleasant and even harmfull Sound levels especially under prolonged exposure. Typically around 70-90 dBA
Pain
Pain: Anything from 100-140 dBA is Pretty Much a no go even with short duration exposure (less than 15 min).
Can even feel painful.
Above 140 dBA is definitely not recommended.
